$1000 raised - Thank you!

We're thrilled to announce that we're able to hand over $1000 to the North Shore Recreation Centre to help support sports & wellness programming here in our area. Hooray, we exceeded our goal!! The Rec Centre is a big part of many of our lives in Tatamagouche - from hockey, curling, figure skating, yoga, and on and on. Thank you everyone for your hard work! Let's try to double that amount next year!

Hats off to all participants and volunteers!

The run is over for the first year, and by all accounts it was a huge success. It did indeed turn out to be beautiful day in Tatamagouche, and everything went off without a hitch.

We are indebted to a wonderful group of hard-working volunteers, who ensured that the routes were clear and safe, refreshments were provided, last-minute registrations were taken and finish times were charted. Without these people, we couldn't have organized such a great event.

Lots of positive comments came in, and we welcome any suggestions for future years. Now that we've had a chance to catch our breaths, we're looking ahead to next year's run and ways to make it an even better event for everyone.

We ended up with over 80 registrants, and raised some cash for the North Shore Recreation Centre. (All $ is not in yet, we'll report back the full amount soon.)

We're working on a compilation of photos for you to look through. It will be up soon as well.

Again, big thanks to everyone who participated. See you all next year!

Tomorrow is the big day

Tomorrow is the big day, and we're very pleased that we'll have gorgeous weather for our run. It'll be sunny and cool with little or no wind - perfect running conditions! The routes are in great shape. Our wonderful team of volunteers has been working hard to make sure the routes are safe and well marked.
We've almost reached our goal of 75 registrants. Interestingly, of those who have registered to date, there are about 75% females - where are you, men? Maybe the men are waiting till race day to register...We've got kids of all ages registered, a real mixture, which is great!
If you haven't registered yet, there is still time. Email jenlangille@hotmail.com now and you'll get a registration form which you can bring with you tomorrow. Failing that, our volunteers will be ready for last-minute registrations in the morning starting at 8 am.
For those of you who are running/walking, please remember that the roads are not closed to traffic, so stay to your left as much as possible and be aware of oncoming vehicles. The local RCMP will be helping to stop traffic where the routes cross over lanes, as well as volunteers along the way to direct you.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at the North Shore Rec Centre bright and early. Please be there no later than 8:15. Happy running!

3 weeks and counting!

Hey everyone - the Fun Run is less than 3 weeks away! There's still time to register - the first 100 to pre-register get a gift bag including a T-Shirt and other goodies. Lots of great draw prizes will be awarded as well on run-day. No need to worry if you think you can't 'run' the entire route. A range of runners & walkers are participating - from beginner to experienced, and everywhere in between! We're all out to have a good time with friends, and raise some much needed $$ for the NS Rec Centre. See you on the 6th!

A note about the course maps I posted on July 5: When the interactive map opens, make sure "hybrid map" is selected under "map type". It is easier to see the Trans Canada Trail in this view.

I had some fun mapping out our two routes on MayMyRun.com so you can all get out there and train on them. You'll see that they are not exactly 5 & 10 km; they're off by a few metres. This is due to the mapping program that I had to play with a bit - the routes have been measured by GPS and are correct down to the metre.

Have a look at the 5 km route:

....And the 10 km route:
