Thank you

A heartfelt thank you to all who came out last Sunday and contributed to make the 3rd Annual Butter Trail Run in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia a huge success.
To the many traffic directors, community members, sponsors and to all the volunteers who did numerous jobs: you are to be commended for your hard work. You are appreciated and valued for all that you do.
To the 160 participants who made their way to the North Shore Recreation Centre: thank you for your enthusiasm and participation. We hope you enjoyed the event and will come back in 2012.
Our goal for the Butter Trail Run is to encourage health and wellness, promote the beauty of Tatamagouche, and to raise funds for the continued operation of the NSRC.
We received many comments from runners about the beauty of our Butter Trail - in all it's glory in the gorgeous September sunshine. The new crusher dust surface is proposed to be completed along the rest of the trail by next fall.
We are proud to have raised $3500 for the NSRC! Thank you once again.

We have TONS of photos of the entire event. They will be posted within the next day or two. Stay tuned!

Free Childcare on Sunday

Just so everyone knows, there will be a free childcare service available at the run. Several responsible, able & energetic teens will be at NSRC during the run/walk to care for any little ones while Mom &/or Dad run the Butter Trail!

One week to go! Register now!

Just a friendly reminder that we're down to a week away from the run. There's still time to register at www.atlanticchip.ca .
Don't worry if you're not a hard-core runner (if you are, good for you!) - this is a fun event, designed so that everyone has a great time. Prizes, munchies, a rockin' atmosphere - and all for two wonderful causes: your health and the North Shore Recreation Centre!
See you on Sunday, September 4th at 10:00. Same-day registration closes at 9:30.

At a race a couple of years ago, we came across a couple of girls who sell really great women's running apparel. We love their philosophy:

"Our goal at Runalicious is to help women show the world around them that they are as passionate and proud about running as we are. Runalicious apparel is casual, stylish, and yes, a bit flaunting."

As well, great insight on why we run:

"... we run to stay healthy

...we run to stay fit

...we run for vanity

...we run to prove that we can

...we run to show our children that we are strong and goal oriented

...we run to eat whatever we want

...we run to drink whatever we want

...we run for our mental health

...but most of all we run for ourselves and we're proud of every mile we leave behind us."

The Runalicious gals will be at the Butter Trail Run this year. Check out their website here and see them on race day. Perhaps a great gift for the running gal in your life!

Register now

Just a reminder that there is still time to register online here. Dry-fit T-shirts with logos will be available to the first 150 registrants, and finish medals to the first 50 to complete the 1 Miler.

While we feel our Butter Trail is a gorgeous asset to our community, it has seen wonderful and much needed improvements in the past week. Thanks to the Trans Canada Trails Association, it has been re-surfaced with hard packed crusher dust. It is truly a pleasure to run and walk on! It is because of the hard work of the Association and many volunteers that the trail is kept in such great shape.
